"Tequa" meaning the Peaceful flowing river, which is also the name of the creek peacefully flowing through the little farm outside the little town of Willliamsburg Kansas, where the trio of 16 year old triplets known as The Tequa Trio, were raised and first discovered Bluegrass music. Abe, Bryce and Coy Link, (alphabetical order of birth) were exposed at a very young age to the handful of bluegrass CDs that were laying around their childhood home.
By 10 years old Coy found himself drawn to the guitar. The brothers took a trip to Lawrence Kansas for their first Fidpick also known as the Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships Festival. That's when the trio decided "This is where it's at!" Since then, Coy has excelled on the guitar and lead vocals while Abe chose to keep his brothers in line with his mad upright bass skills and Bryce rounding out the sound with a combination of banjo, washboard, harmonica and spoons!
These boys have been tearing it up all over Kansas and even across a few of our neighboring states. Determined to stop at nothing, they've even built their own stage to pull along as they tour, just in case. Talk about being prepared for anything! They placed 2nd in the Kansas State String Band competition in the youth category at the Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships in Lawrence Kansas. They've continue to perform and compete for the youth in bluegrass competition for the Ozark mountain music association as well as the Lovegrass Music festival as well as many other festivals and events across Kansas.
